Looks like you've got those in a controlled box for temperature and humidity???
That's a very posh way of saying it's an Ikea shelving unit with a plastic cover. The shelves are upside-down so I can fill them with water to keep the humidity up!

Mod edit: new thread started from what did you eat today.

Home-grown yellow and king oyster mushrooms in a homemade black garlic sauce (the black garlic was homemade) served with pasta.

And no I didn't cook all the mushrooms. That's ½kg there (bowl weighs 770g)

How long does it take???
It depends on the kit you get and the temperature it is stored in.

These kits were not inoculated and sent out ready to fruit so they've taken 4-5 weeks. I'm expecting another type of mushroom to fruit before long (I got 4 kits), but the others should start again before long. I've soaked one of those harvested but the other I haven't yet because it was growing on another surface which may fruit if I leave it alone.

Most kits come ready to fruit, so usually start fitting within a week of opening.

I miss all the 'shrooms I could get at the Asian or Intl markets. Here you've got the 2 or 3 choices at the grocery store. One day... I keep adding on to outside gardening...

What humidity and temperature do they need?
And what medium?
I believe coffee grounds are good?
And do you think you could grow them from the spores of overripe oyster mushrooms?
I would love to try, but no ready packs here

Yes to all of badjak 's questions; mushrooms are around $25-$30 a kilo here. Utterly ridiculous prices for plain ole button mushrooms, so I've simply stopped buying them. I'm not sure if mushroom packs are available here, but it might be worth looking. I love mushrooms and find it really frustrating that the producers here want to be overnight millionaires.

It varies for temperature depending on the mushroom.

Different species need different temperature. I can only grow pink oyster mushrooms here in summer (when it doesn't drop below 20°C at night, not the 2°C we had yesterday).

The yellow oyster mushrooms are ones I chose for this time of year and temperature because their range is better for now.

The kits I buy are rye berries or wheat berries or millet and compost that you mix up adter several weeks. I don't know if coffee grinds alone is enough. I think that's a topping nothing more.

I use this company. The site had a great deal of useful information even if you can't buy from them. Mushroom Liquid Cultures | Mushroom Spores Australia | Rootlab
