Isn't it more dangerous to use an unsharpened knife than it is to use a sharpened one?I threw that away too. Brand new from my sister’s house. I use my knife for chopping, slicing, julienning, and the knife is not even sharp, lol.

I’m still here. I remember slicing off part of my finger in my younger days with lobster so that’s how I know. I can make mistake with dull knife, but with sharp knife, I might not be here to tell you about it.Isn't it more dangerous to use an unsharpened knife than it is to use a sharpened one?![]()
It certainly is!Isn't it more dangerous to use an unsharpened knife than it is to use a sharpened one?
Mrs. GH bought one of those about a year ago, and I'm not a fan, either. It tends to smear garlic along the cutting board, rather than to press it. Our actual garlic press works well, but then it's such a PIA to scrape out and clean, that I mostly just old school mash them with the flat of a knife or take the time to dice. Also, the easier way I've found to peel a bunch of cloves isn't just to mash them with the flat edge of a knife and manually pick the skins off, but to chop off either end and, throw them in a glass Rubbermaid container and shake them like hell for 20 to 30 seconds. Once you pop the lids, 95% of the skins will be removed.I got one of those. It went in the trash. Cleaning the cutting board, or whatever you're mashing on, took more water than just cleaning my hand press.

The green thing in above picture is a silicone tube used to peel garlic cloves. Just put cloves in tube, gently press down and roll several times. Works like a charm. Some garlic can be peeled by wiggling it between thumb and pointy finger. That's what I try first
If that doesn't work, I use a knife
After that it's knife or mortar & pestle

Not hereYou know, y'all can buy it already peeled in a jar, in most supermarkets.![]()
Why not?Not here
Because they are not.Why not?
