Hello. I. Am. New here.

Lotta folks from the US here.
We have a pretty good mix. Site is UK-based, and we have regular members from there, Australia, NZ, Singapore, The Netherlands, Africa, Canada, Venezuela, Italy, the US, and sincere apologies to those I’ve missed, but I’m old and addled these days.

Another warm welcome from Ohio! Yes, like TR posted, we have a lot of people from around the world. It's pretty cool to be chatting with someone in the morning with my tea when they are having dinner or getting ready for bed...and we all have a lot of fun here! So glad you could join us. I do like to cook "fancy" sometimes but I often am just taking photos of some Panda Express meal I picked up or a ginormous sub from Jersey Mike's. Or just some simple BBQ ribs, mashed potatoes, and peas.

:welcome:

I don't even know if there's a Jersey Mike's in my area, but they sure do advertise a lot.
I live in the semi-country. And I don't get out much. But that's not saying I don't make a run to a chain store now and then. It's a welcome reprieve.

We're probably not all that far from one another, as I am in NWPA.
We share a lot of regional foods.

Have you ever heard of sauerkraut balls? I make them from scratch and they are pretty damned good, way better than the ones I have eaten in the restaurants. I didn't like them at first since I don't like sauerkraut so I created my own recipe to make them taste better (to me anyway).

I am actually from Florida but I have been living up here for 25 years. I'm still stuck on coastal and southern cuisine, especially seafood. Even though TastyReuben lives in SW OH, he and his wife travel up through PA quite a bit and they love German foods. I think that Pennsylvania has a lot of foods with German and Dutch influence? He might have a lot in common with you foodwise.

Edited to add that I have done quite a bit of traveling for work up in NW PA through Erie and other cities/towns along I-90.

Yeah, I'm up by Erie. In the chimney. 3ft of snow on the ground after Thanksgiving last year 🙄

Never heard of sauerkraut balls. It sounds like I might like yours, JAS_OH1 . As I don't like sauerkraut either
Just a wee bit on a hot dog with mustard and I'm good. Or of course on a Reuben. But the rye and dressing temper it.
My tastes are very different from my family's. Maybe that's why I never had any good luck in the new year. I don't eat pork and sauerkraut.

The Gettysburg area is nice TastyReuben .
Less snow, slightly more moderate, the politicians through that belt keep the roads in good condition.

It's beautiful up on the lake, especially outside of Erie and on into NY.

I don't like Reubens, either, because I don't like sauerkraut, I don't like the caraway seeds in rye, and 1000 Island is pretty awful. My tastes are much different than many other people of course. I often am the odd one out with food tastes. But yeah, when I moved up here my inlaws served that pork loin and sauerkraut with the kraut cooked right on top of the pork. I scraped all the sauerkraut off but the pork was ruined with the flavor from the kraut juice. I ate it to be polite but inwardly I was squirming, LOL. I was looking for the blackeyed peas, cornbread, and greens. I did ask about that and they looked at me like I had 2 heads.

PA is a beautiful state all over, just so different in each part. I love the Allegheny mountains.

New guy here that was recommended by someone.
I enjoy cooking home cooked meals. Nothing fancy.
I also enjoy trying new recipes that catch my eye. Mostly youtube recipes or something I see on a forum from another member.
Hi and welcome to CB.

I'm the site owner. I emigrated back in 2016 leaving the UK for 4 years on my OH secondment. We didn't go back. 😃 enjoyed the place too much. Much more relaxed and less manicured than the UK.
