How is the corona virus affecting you?

Coronavirus spread in the USA is only getting worse.

According to the Johns Hopkins Tracker, a new record high number of infections was reached yesterday - again!

I always thought that the global interactions we face should only experience little explosions, but this is proving to be a big one. I relate to it as a very unstable thing which can tip or lead to worse escalations in International and local tensions.

That is your uncle on which side? I was thinking of your Dad who has dementia. If its his brother, would he understand? 79 is not a good age to have Covid.

Yup, it's my dad's younger brother.

Apparently, their sister called my dad yesterday to tell him, and when he got off the phone, my mom asked, "Who was that?"

"I don't know. I done forgot."

"Well, what'd they want?"

"If I can't remember who it was, I sure can't remember what they wanted!"

Ah well. I told my partner yesterday that our daughter has discovered a quite large lump on her neck and is being fast tracked for a scan. In fact it was lightening fast as its booked for less than a week since she saw the doc. Normally the wait would be a month or more. Obviously I'm concerned...

Today I mentioned it again and he didn't know what I was talking about. I had to explain it all again.

Good luck to your daughter with her scan.

I have the reminding going on with my wife now. Dementia runs rampant through the women in her family, so she's been checked a couple of times, just cursory in-office exams, and they always say it's just fallout from her stroke, not the beginnings of dementia, but she's acting exactly like her mom did at this age.

Sorry to hear this MG.
MY sister's father should have done something sooner about his symptoms, but didn't because of covid-19 and seeing a doctor etc. Things got really bad back in October and he finally had to have exploratory surgery, but they required him to isolate himself hash home for 2 weeks before yet would even scan him let alone perform the surgery. Anyone who was to visit him in hospital had to isolate with him for 2 weeks as well. The travel ban was in place, so my sister couldn't and my youngest brother was trapped in Wales where he works and lives. So neither could see their father.

My sister was already self-isolating to see a friend of hers before he died of cancer (cremated last week). It now looks like they both lose their father to covid-19 issues and not get to see him either, though it will be the cancer that kills him.

Fingers crossed for your sister. Is she in the south with you?
 
This is on topic. With my surgery on Monday, I find myself wanting to hide in my house until then. With all the delays I've had to deal with, a positive Covid-19 test would really send the train off the rails. Surprisingly, it is the primary thing I'm worried about. It's like waiting to see the results of your college entrance exams. :hyper:

When do you get tested - is it immediately before the op?

I've been hiding in the house since March.
