My oldest daughter cooks some from scratch but uses some shortcuts, like if she's making chicken parmesan, she will hand bread the chicken, boil noodles, and use fresh basil, but she will use a jarred marinara sauce. She also has 3 kids ages 8 months to 5 years old and is a stay-at-home mom. My youngest and her husband both make a lot of money and they usually go out to eat or go to other peoples' houses regularly, or they get takeout. Her husband can cook, but both of their jobs require a good deal of time and he travels usually M-Thurs. My middle daughter cooks some as well and is quite talented. Now that she no longer travels for work I imagine that she is cooking more often (she lives in Texas). My oldest (son) works odd hours (night shift) for Amazon. We rarely see him even though he lives in a separate wing of our house, but we do see Doordash, Uber Eats, and various pizza delivery drivers a few times a week. I think his idea of cooking is a blue box of macaroni and cheese (the kind with the powder cheese packet) or putting something in the microwave (I saw some of those frozen burrito things in his freezer awhile back when I was brave enough to go over there--he's not the best housekeeper in the world).
As far as friends go, I don't know anyone who enjoys cooking as much or has as much time to do it as I do. We could go out more but we don't. I think we are going to go out to Carrabba's (casual Italian chain) sometime within the next week or so just because we haven't been out to dinner in months. I will get restaurant takeout evaluations 2-5 times a month so there's that. And sometimes I will go eat a lunch by myself if I am getting a fee and reimbursed meal. I do like going out and getting meals that I would ordinarily not be cooking at home. Really been craving sushi...
