I often go several days quite happily without eating meat - it's not a conscious decision, just that most of my favourite foods do not involve meat.

I eat a lot of pasta and rice, vegetables and baked products. I also love eggs, yogurts, cheese and other dairy foods - so clearly I could never be vegan!

Do you find you eat a lot of meat or could you happily go without? What do you consider a vegetarian staple? For me it has to be pasta - I could happily eat it at almost every meal!

Pasta, rice, noodles and potatoes are all vegetarian staples. I haven't eaten meat for over 20 years and I don't feel I have missed out. These days there is more choice and meatless Mondays seems popular and even when I eat out, even meat eaters like the vegetarian options.

It's not all about vegetables with other alternatives available soya protein, other grains and tofu are all readily available unlike before, so a vegetarian based diet is easier to cater for from the local supermarket.
