One additional bit of information that the Media Gallery keeps, where the Attach files option does not, comes in the form of the image metadata or EXIF information.

Below each image, the original details appear on the right-hand side, beneath the image information box.
You may find this helpful, or not, depending on your filing system. The original Device, Aperture, Focal Length, Exposure time, ISO, Filename, current File size and current Dimensions, along with the Date taken are all recorded. I will fully understand if you do not want this information online. It is not possible to strip this out once the file has been uploaded but there are plenty of ways of removing this data very easily, before you upload the image.

To remove the exif (some or all) data on an image using a Microsoft operating system, right-click the file and select Properties. Change to the Detail tabs and click Remove Properties and Personal Information link.

A new window will open, and you will get a choice: remove everything and save as a copy, or remove selected information from the actual file itself.

If you select the Create a copy option, click OK to close the Properties window, and you will see a new file alongside your existing image. The new file will have the same name and the suffix " - Copy". That is the version you will want to upload to ensure no personal information is added there. The choice is yours.

Various image-editing software can also remove this data. It is something you will need to investigate for yourself, but feel free to ask for help if you need it. I will need to know the device you are using, its operating system, and the software you are using to assist.

So that yellow-highlighted code in the box below Image metadata. What is it?

This is a convenient snippet of code if you only want to add one media gallery image to your text, and perhaps it was added a year or so ago and you can't easily locate it in the camera icon add image section. You clicked more, and more, and more, and got bored of searching for the right image.
Surely there is a faster way?

Yes, there is.

Navigate to the media gallery and view the image directly. So Media Gallery - Viewing Images in the Media Gallery again, and copy that section of code by clicking on the copy button.

Right, now all you need to do is paste that code snippet into your post. Job done.

So literally type in
Code:
[GALLERY=media, 14168][/GALLERY]

and you will get to see this...
