Is anyone else finding that images when viewed on a laptop or larger screen (so not tablets or phones) are too large?
Huge!!!!
I usually use my phone but also go on my laptop to post images. I find the laptop/desktop screen all but unviewable due to the huge image sizes and also because the laptop/desktop view is essentially the same proportions as the mobile view rather than being scaled down/wider etc. It's likely part of a recent <mobile first> trend in web development that assumes that everyone only ever uses phones and tablets. Are you able to adjust it?

I can yes.

I had increased the size following requests regarding quality and size, but I'm finding that I can't see 1 image on a single 27inch wide screen when I'm working on my laptop, so have already changed my default style to Style chooser width 1380 pixels and it's still too large for comfort,v hence my question.

this was the new setting.... which was 2048x2048 (i think)

OK - I have kept the actual file sizes (Mb) the same. But which do you think looks better on a large screen - so no mobile phones, no tablets. desktops, laptops, monitors....

Which looks better on a desktop screen

On a desktop or laptop screen, you will see something like this.

(Obviously this has now been scaled down, but you WILL see 3 versions if you are on a desktop or laptop screen.)

It will not show on tablets or mobile phones, hence why I have specified desktops or laptops

I edit my pictures in Paint Shop Pro
650 pixel width and height is automatically generated. That is a size I like.
