It's a bunch of more bugs than ever on flooded Lake Texoma this year. I cannot prep without covering everything immediately. I may as well be on a Louisiana Bayou. I got a man who has to put everything out back in the fridge, right now! I have to hide ingerdients that I want at room temperature. If I buy a butter bell, he'll just put it the fridge about the time I need the butter softened. I don't want dead bugs in my butter. I need a DIY butter bell to hide in a cabinet that looks like nothing that belongs in a fridge.

So what you're after is a butter dish.

Dinner plate and upturned bowl. Though between you and I, I'd just get a plastic container with a clip lid and use it upside-down.

They also do them in glass with a plastic lid.

We frequently use them upside-down.

Not quite DIY, but repurposing

She needs one that's incognito and not see through, lol.

Why? You only need to stop access to the butter if it is going into a cabinet. And there are plenty of solid colour plastic containers that can be used upside down as well.
I guess because if he sees it in the cabinet he is going to put it in the refrigerator? That's the impression I got. But yes, a solid plastic container would work fine, I just saw that the image in your post was clear. Which would be fine for me since my husband would not try to put it in the refrigerator and I might just get one of those since it's airtight (my glass butter dish is not).

I read that sentence entirely differently, lol

out back... means something else here,

I thought she was just hiding things from bugs, not humans and bugs. :D

Yeah, she meant her man will put anything sitting out on the counter back into the refrigerator. Bug butter blend doesn't sound very appealing, though.
