Loose tea or tea bags - which do you prefer?

I have only ever drunk a cup of tea made from loose tea and nearly gagged on the tea at the bottom of the cup. I think it is meant to be strained, but it wasn't. I always make tea from bags, but I am more of a coffee drinker really.

Yes and No, on the straining part. Its only like someone leaving the teabag in their cup, until they finish it.

Something that is useful for making an individual cup of tea without using a pot is a tea infuser. Something like one of these:

For convenience sake I use tea bags but for a real great cup of tea I like to use loose tea. When I make Oolong tea, which is a black tea I only use loose tea leaves and it makes a wonderful cup of tea.
