Mace - a fascinating neglected spice?

I think this is the video (on duckduckgo player for less tracking if you have it) or on YT direct
I can view it on YT. Its a bit blurry but I am pretty sure he isn't removing the mace but the outer coating around the nut. It comes off in a rounded brown half shell like piece which looks nothing like mace. Mace is delicate and lacy and doesn't cover the entire surface of the nut. Apart from anything else it is very difficult to obtain nutmeg with the mace around it so it seems unlikely he would have it.

Sorry if I seem to be nit picking! I find it fascinating.

Same here!😅
There's an edit point after he cracks the outer shell, which I'm guessing is the whole nutmeg dried in its entirety and it, the nutmeg, and the mace have all become brown? Didnt see any mace around the nutmeg tho 🤔 But apparently there are several species of nutmeg?

I don't have a clue of what mace is either, but I do have a whole nutmeg, I use it sometimes, but not often.
