Recipe Meringue Pie Shell

Has anyone ever made or eaten a pie made in a meringue pie shell? I love lemon meringue pie, and came across this recipe. I've never seen a meringue pie shell before, so wasn't sure if this is something new, or just new to me. It sounds intriguing, and I can imagine making this type of shell for a strawberry pie, too.
