That's definitely true and especially true in cooking. Wait for the confusion to begin.
And when it does, I'd recommend that your first move it to look to see what country a member is from. I always try to put the words "UK terminology" in brackets after any of the terms i know that can be confused between Australia, UK and USA, but that's because I emigrated to Australia almost 10 years ago.

I understand exactly what you mean. Those of us who live in the "south" of the U.S. have our own language. Or, so we are told.:D
