New Year's Eve & New Year's Day Menu (2025)

I forgot add dessert for New Year’s Eve is tiramisu, I have some lady fingers and mascarpone cream. I might need to buy some heavy cream or cocoa, I need to check that I have cocoa powder.

For New Year’s Day I will make banana bread, got to use the big bag of walnuts, otherwise they become rancid very quickly, that’s the problem with walnuts. My husband has been asking for banana bread. Not very exciting to me, but what the man wants the man gets, lol.

Damn - I didn't know that.. I buy them for my parrot and keep them on a shelf next to his cage for weeks. How do you know if they are rancid? I don't want to give him anything that might make him sick ...

They taste off, this is why I prefer pecans, pecans are much more expensive, like 3-4 times the price of walnuts.
How do you know, the parrot will says RANCID, RANCID, and fall over.
Seriously I don’t have a clue, but I throw mine away if I can taste that it’s off.
 
I just went and threw what was left of his out. He still has his canned whole salted cashews, which he prefers anyway :)

I think you can smell it.
And otherwise you'll need to taste :)
But you already threw them out..

No, just joking. They'll just taste rancid, and the parrot will either eat them, or not. Birds are usually pretty selective about what they eat!

I know Ozzie is - if he doesn't like something he'll throw it off of his cage or just leave it and "bark" at it :)
 
Menu for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day is changing daily, no more banana bread, I’m substituting banana bread with Apple crumble, no oats, but walnuts instead, using this recipe. My husband likes ice cream with it.

I think I can get a flight out of JFK at 10:00 am - should put me in LA around 2:30ish - hmmm, I'll let you know when I get there okay :D

Okay then - News Years Eve - the way the weather is - whatever happens to beleft in the fridge/freezer. We were going to have Pizza and Wings.
 
We are going have roasted shoulder lamb for New Year’s Eve, but we don't eat that late. Our New Years celebration is very much East Coast time, why, we fall asleep after 9:00PM, a little after the ball drops.
