I was disappointed this morning to read that one of the moderators is now "too afraid to [create new threads] due to adverse reactions to mods creating new threads from off-topic posts!"
To keep discussions clear and easy to follow, moderators may move, split, or create new threads from off-topic posts at any time. This has always been part of CookingBites' policy and is something you agreed to when you last accepted the Terms & Conditions, and something you accept each and every time you post on CookingBites:
Creating a new thread is not a punishment. It is a fundamental part of how forums stay healthy. New threads are the lifeblood of the community: they help good ideas stand on their own, make topics easier to find later, and keep existing threads from becoming muddled or impossible to follow and it is something members do not do enough of.
A moderator moving or splitting a post is simply doing what keeps CookingBites alive. It’s routine housekeeping, not a criticism of your contribution.
A few important reminders:
• Moderators are volunteers giving their time to help the community run smoothly.
• Rudeness, dismissiveness, or hostility toward moderators is not acceptable. Attacking or undermining them will not be tolerated.
• If you have concerns about a moderation action, please contact me (SatNavSaysStraightOn) privately. Public complaints or confrontational comments will be removed.
Thread-splitting and post-moving are tools to protect conversations, not disrupt them. If your comment gets its own thread, it’s usually because it deserves one.

3. Staying on Topic:
Discussion must remain focused on food/drink, cooking, and their production.
Interesting 'off-topic' posts may be moved to form new threads.
Posts that drift from the thread topic may be moved or deleted.
Political, faith-based, or social commentary is permitted only when it directly relates to food/drink or their production/consumption.
All other political or religious debate is not allowed.
22. Moderator Authority:
Moderator instructions are binding.
Public arguments about moderation will be removed.
If you need clarification about a moderator decision, contact the moderator team or site owner privately.
The site owner’s decision is final.
