Now thats funny as my brother and me convinced my aunt to wear mask and snorkel when cutting lots of onions for a big batch of curry...
And she did.
We really laughed about the snorkel as she used my mask and I didn't have the snorkel attached and we still made her use it (snorkel inside headstrap)

Choosing to ignore the tears and proceed is what I do, no snorkels

I’ve found the red onions I buy from the supermarket don’t cause me to tear up one bit.
I’m half convinced onions aren’t as strong as they used to be and thats not just age dulling the senses, my sons are ok chopping them up too.

A " book of old tips for housewives" advises to pin cloves into an orange, to deter fliesfrom entering the flat.
I just did that. Love both cloves and orange scent, so let's see.

I can't remember which, but I've seen that placed in either a pot of mulled wine or hot cider.
We do that in the winter, just for the scent.

We went through a period of using coffee beans instead of cloves and having the orange sit in vodka or brandewijn to make some form of coffee liquor
