Oxtail stew in tomato sauce.

To me thats unusual and interesting. Not the oxtail or the tomato sauce, but the combination. I'm used to oxtail in a beef sauce with maybe red wine or beer in it.

My husband likes tomato sauce with everything, I threw in a bit of anise and it’s delicious. One of my favorite dish served with toasted baguette.

I like to season with red wine or sometimes just use a bit of caramelized onion and garlic. Almost always gets served with rice and hot sauce.

I'd never heard of those, oxtails, until my Korean wife, rest her soul, cooked some. She always served them in the cooking broth with diced jalapeños and rice.
I didn’t eat them for a long time until I until I traveled to Waikiki and there was a Pho place near my hotel serving them in a soup, after that I’m hooked. They are more expensive than steaks here.

Yes, they are pricy! Ive found a meat processing plant that sells them for around $7/lb. which is around 30% lower than the grocery stores. 👍🙏

I braised oxtail exactly once. It rendered very well, but contained so much collagen, that I don't care to repeat it. There was too much gelatinous goopiness, not to mention bones for me to enjoy. Not to mention, the price for them seems obscene compared to other cuts of beef.

They're right up there with pigs feet!!! 😃

They are a crazy price here. More expensive than fillet steak.
And you can only eat 40% of it, or so.
So I don't buy them (same goes for spare ribs).
