Does anyone still use paraffin wax? I don't because the seals fail too often. Does anyone know if there have been any improvements?
However, I am seriously considering using parrafin wax on some jelly recipes that were handed down. I don't plan on making huge batches and I will be giving the jellies away to family as a reminder of my gram. I am making "old fashioned" applemint jelly, grape-thyme jelly and tomato-basil jelly. I am going for the nostalgia factor. The jellies will probably be consumed before mold can set in. Long ago, most of us learned the hard way to immediately refrigerate wax-topped jellies the hard way but my youngest cousins don't remember the good ol days.
