Michelin stars have long been awarded to restaurants exclusively in highly urbanized areas. Recently, however, three restaurants in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (NE, USA) were awarded Michelin stars, along with ten others being awarded "Bib Gourmands".

The three making stars include;

Friday Saturday Sunday, a restaurant run by Philadelphia native Chef Chad Williams and his wife Hanna, was awarded a star. The restaurant features a set multicourse menu of American contemporary cuisine created with luxury ingredients.

Her Place Supper Club, run by Chef Amanda Shulman, earned the second star on the list. The multicourse set menu changes every two weeks, featuring European contemporary cuisine with “French and Italian accents.”

The third star was awarded to Provenance. Chef Nicholas Bazik’s restaurant features dishes with Korean and French influences.

Thought I am a Pennsylvania resident, I am not a fan of Philadelphia at all, but if/when I might have a reason to go there in the future, I will make sure to seek out the redeeming qualities of one of these establishments.

That's great! In the UK some Michelin starred restaurants offer set lunch menus on some weekdays at more than reasonable prices. I've had some first rate meals that way. On a few occasions I've also been able to chat to the chef.
