You've just reminded me that my grandad (back in the 50s or 60s) used to use a sort of flexible, metal "bracelet" on his shirtsleeves, on the upper arm. Can't for the life of me remember what the technical term is!

They were playing nonstop Christmas music in the school auditorium one year and we changed it to Black Sabbath playing War Pigs...

Sleeve garter.
My grandad used to wear them when he went into the garage to work on something.. still wearing a shirt and tie?!
