Pickling gherkins

I've got a single gherkin (someone at work had a bag to share out), and I'm planning to experiment with pickling it (sliced, not just one big gherkin in a jar!), never done it before. My WI book has a recipe that involves three days of salting and two separate vinegar boilings, so I thought sod that, and looked online for quicker recipes!

Anyone done this before, either long windedly or quickly?

And here it is, one pickled gherkin!

I'll give it a couple of weeks to mature before trying it...
