Plans for today (2025)

Today's plans were to prepare a menu for a local country club. The Indian food festival (which finished last week) had add-on benefits; people saying " Ooooh, do you do private events? "
You bet I do, as long as you pay me.  💵💵💵💵💵
Anyway, preliminary meeting was last Tuesday morning and now they've got a menu proposal. Bring em on!!

It's a little cloudy today.

Yesterday on our way back from the seafood market I stopped into guest services to see if we could be moved. Monday when we checked in all the had were lower level units. Well in the unit above us they were doing renovations and the guys worked 14 hour shifts starting at 7 a.m. The thumping and pounding was more than I could take, and the only relief was when we went to the pool and to the seafood market.

Thankfully they moved us and I slept 10 hours straight last night.

I'm baking some bacon and we will have bagels with cream cheese, avocado, everything bagel seasoning, and bacon on the side. Waiting for some of the haze to burn through before going to the pool.

I bought two packs of bacon today and it wasn't jowl bacon! 🤪

There must be an app that's good at that?
Or maybe not, they're probably too small and flapping for a phones camera to pick up on 🤷‍♀️
I am someone who likes to watch birds, and even dabbles a little bit in bird conservation as part of my job.

Yep, there are apps you can use to help identify birds! Merlin is a popular one - it actually uses your phone’s microphone and identifies birds based off their songs/calls. It’s not 100% accurate, but it’s pretty good.

It’s surprisingly possible to take pics of some birds with a phone camera. My dad does lots of bird photography, and he takes pics with both his DSLR and his phone. Of course, lots of times the darn bird moves right as you try to photograph it, but that’s one of the nice things about digital photography- you can keep snapping away without wasting film!

Here’s a photo of a sharp-shinned hawk I took with my phone.
