Plans for today (2025)

Craig would be happy to join him. He's only seen bits and pieces, never a whole movie, when he happened to walk into DDs bedroom when she was watching it.
I saw the first one when it came out. I was 11, and it was only the second time I’d seen a movie without my parents/family.

That one was so bad, there was no chance I was wasting my money or my time on the next two, but like Craig, I’d seen snippets of them over the years, when they’d be playing on someone else’s TV.

Married a SW nut, which means with the next batch came out (all those prequels), I had to go see them, and honest to god, for that first one, I remember sitting in the darkened theater and thinking, “Well, I don’t know how they’ve managed it, but they’ve taken more money and somehow made a worse movie than the first one. Bravo!”

I’ve since sat through all the other movies, and the series (she’s watching Andor right now), but I don’t pay attention to any of them any more. They’re just on.

I even went to a museum exhibition of the costumes. I appreciated that for what it was, but I didn’t care for the mythology behind it all.

I'm not sure how your marriage survived.

You might have a touch of martyr in you to subject yourself to such torments. I'd have said, "Have fun at the movie, I'll be at the bar across the street. "
That’s one huge difference between us…I like (and usually prefer) doing things on my own, because I call all the shots that way. I like to go to restaurants on my own, go shopping on my own, and if it’s some kind of event, go to that on my own.

She’s exactly the opposite, and it’s all tied into how she sees “alone” - she sees people on their own and instantly thinks, “That’s so sad, that person has no one.”

My sister is the same way. I have to be very guarded about letting on that MrsT is away for work, or my sister will harass me daily with coming over, even if it’s just to sit with me, because she can’t stand to be by herself, and she thinks everyone else is the same way. To this day, when I patiently explain that no, I’m looking forward to the time by myself, I even took a couple of vacation days to really maximize the solitude, she just doesn’t get it.

My food plans for the day are a mess. I have a potato half sitting in water that I need to use. There’s a single slice of frittata left that needs to be eaten. MrsT has half a reuben to finish. I have asparagus that needs to be eaten. I have to throw all that together to make some sort of snacky day.

Isn't it strange how you can know someone for so many years and they really don't know you at all?

Thankfully MrOH and I both like and need alone time here and there and he hates shopping mostly. If we do go to a grocery store together (like when on vacation) I give him a few items to go find and then bring them to me (I'll be in produce). Then we're done. We both like wandering around flea markets together but that's the only time we enjoy shopping together.

Gotta pick up a grocery order at 6.

I have one container of that smoked turkey left in the freezer. I'm going to make another of those casseroles with my homemade egg noodles. DH is thrilled.

I'm almost out of my homemade pasta so I might make another batch.

It was hot today in Cork, had a long walk along the Marina enjoying the sunshine ☀️🤗

I like shopping by myself and detest online shopping because I can’t see and feel things, and once I order something, I can’t be bothered to send it back
Same as me - I have to touch the material of eg a shirt, to see how it feels, and I really cba with ordering / receiving / arranging returns for online shopping. I do sometimes check out a clothes item online knowing I can pop into a bricks and mortar shop tho.

I'm also a no fuss clothes shopper - do I like it? Does it fit? Yes - I'll take it
Sadly I'm in what feels like the small minority of women who hate clothes shopping. For years I avoided it as much as possible only to face having to find something to wear for a specific occasion and HAVING to search shops with a limited timescale to find something
In recent years I've taken to having a quick look at a clothes rack when not specifically looking for anything, just to see if any colours / styles catch my eye. And if going somewhere where I may do that I try remember to wear a vest top even if I have a t-shirt or jumper over it.
I'm happy to try on a blouse over a vest top stood in the shop, I don't care!
Last year I even tried on a pair of shorts over my jeans stood in a shopping isle  (I hate that sizes can very depending on the shop).
