Plans for today (2025)

Cornbread?

Corn chowder?
I've never made either before, so I'd have to check if recipes were suitable for me.

I've just set a rice pudding on the go - reduced sugar, but with raisins in and a big jolt of cinnamon. That can be portioned up for relatively healthy snacks/deserts/first breakfasts.
Who needs to buy overpriced muller rice when you can throw ingredients in a slow cooker and wander off and ignore it while it cooks? :giggle:

Woke up downstairs and wife left at 4am.
She flew with our 2 kids and their 4 grandchildren. Chch to Auckland then samoa. She shouted herself business class. Her own wee pod which she really enjoyed.
I've been messaging and following on flight radar . Just going to get makkas for tea. Then watching programs my wife hates. Mummy set in the desert.
Have a few more drink's than usual.

I will not be visiting Samoa today, much as I wish I could.

Instead I will be seeing a mental health councellor as a follow up to my stay in ICU in January. This is organised for all patients as a check of how you are coping after what can be a very traumatic experience. Aren't the NHS brilliant. I'm sure I'm fine, I knew exactly what was going to happen to me before I went in, and the whole intensive care experience went to plan. Imagine though if you were quietly driving along minding your own business then suddenly woke up two days later attached to several machines and pumped full of opiods - very scary.

From experience, though not the rta side of things, but just waking up in ICU on a ventilator not knowing how long it had been since i lost consciousness at the doctors surgery, I was too ill and too drugged to be scared, worried or anything else. They took very good care of me and it was also my very first visit to a hospital in Australia as well, not knowing the medical system here. That was more a worry than how I had got there or why.

My plans have taken a turn for the better.
I forgot to order the tarragon so popped into Waitrose after my torture massage to find the fish counter looking beautiful and that they have started selling lobster tails 👏
My 85pence tarragon turned into £60 worth of fish.
Feeling unjustifiably pleased with myself 😂

Have to get water, go to the dump, get rid of some bamboo tops in the river, break down some pallets, weeding, make dessert happen, and that should do it. Somewhere in there will be a shot of whiskey. 😉
8 1/2 hours later...
