Plans for today (2025)

Builders have decided they’re not coming today. I’m vaguely annoyed because he does this all the time and I don’t jump out of bed early on Sunday mornings if I can help it, especially to go out into freezing temps at 7.30 in the morning to p*ss about with a gate so it’s ready for when they arrive!

Also a bit irritated because the outdoor oven has been packed away for 10 days now and there was no need, I cudda had that cast iron cooked smoked steak after all - the steak that I removed from todays delivery because they’d be here working.. except they’re not. Hmph.

Getting a CT scan for some random abdominal pains that I've been having the past year, might just be Crohns but we want to be sure it's nothing more than that. So am fasting now, and can 'enjoy' a litre of barium water when we've arrived at hospital. Still, am lucky it's only 1 litre because I don't have a colon, people with a colon are supposed to drink 1.5 litres.

That's a lot of fluid 😮

Does barium water taste like anything nasty? Or just like water?
Anyway, good luck, fingers crossed
Well, it's mildly salty with artificial sweetness added. I HATE it but that's because I have had 11 colonoscopies and then you have to drink 4 litres of salted & artificial flavored water to prepare and flush your colon.
So it triggers those memories for me. Thanks to having no more colon however, the colonoscopies are in the past for me.
And comparably 1 litre of this was easy.
I just feel slightly queasy now still. Salt water & artificial flavor is just no treat, to say the least.

Sounds a bit like ORS
Oral rehydration solution

Yep, ORS is another one of the 'joys' of having no colon, when it's a heatwave I need that to stay out of dehydratrion/ the hospital. The barium liquid is almost exactly that.
The colonoscopy prep stuff is like ORS but a lot stronger tasting.

Woke up in a less than genial mood. Weird how that can happen isn't it!

Maybe it's something to do with the dining room clearance which still hasn't started (due to the rib damage) and now I'm rapidly running out of time to pull off even the minimal revised plan.

Doesn't help that Mr SSOAP's shoulder surgery means he can't help at all.

If I'm feeling brave I'll take a pic for you and show you the awful dumping ground I don't wish to look at let alone tackle!!

Treats maybe needed after this!
I think I'll browse the treat thread for some motivation.
Treating yourself

Edit: One of two things, either the fishmongers that gets rave reviews about 20mins from here or I discovered there's a smokery with some fantastic produce about an hour away. They also have a shooting range so I could take my air rifle and have a bit of fun while I was there.. 🤔
