Plans for today (2025)

I’m pretty well housebound due to snow. I’m planning to maybe make something for the challenge, maybe work on my cross stitch a bit, in between rounds of shoveling. It’s easier to go out and shovel every few hours than to wait until the end and try to do it all at once.

Been raining for days here so there's been flash flood warnings and now those are gone and it's high wind warnings. I'm going to stay in and make some board cream for my cutting board and rifle through the fridge in a clear out and clean up attempt. Ozzie is on standby food disposal status.

Welp, husband appears to have been generous in sharing whatever he has, and I’m now feeling sick.

Work day today so not much. Supposed to not rain for a couple of days so I'll take my mint planter box I've been weatherizing and put it in the sun to expand prior to the last coat of my homemade weatherizer.

He’s better - still not 100% but he’s functional, which means he can take care of me (I took care of him the last 3 days).

I have no voice so I’m texting him my requests. “Butler! Fetch me some chicken soup!”

It keeps me amused at least.

What’s really fun is, after he brings you that soup, taste it right in front of him, then text him, “Not this chicken soup, the other chicken soup!”

Just home from buying more booze. 11 am yesterday 2 maoris broke into my garage and my back fence. Used a screwdriver? To pop the side door.
Took all my meat in one freezer. The other one has veges etc in. Whole lamb dressed 3 fillets paua whitebait pickled pork and other stuff. Had to get a locksmith out for 2 new bolts. $500 later.
Cops told me not to touch anything. But I know my power tools are gone.
Insurance company will pay for meat as long time policy holder .
I'm kinda guessing up.aroind 4k? Just one drill to replace is $750 makita hp2010n.

My plans include getting my CV up to date so I can do some online work whilst I have 12 days off... A little extra $$ here and there would not go amiss.
Tomorrow, I was meant to be on a course but my being ill over the weekend and Monday has prevented that.
My vehicle is in the garage to get the locks changed tomorrow, and then I may get on with a little gardening while looking after a chicken who has suddenly gone blind overnight. I am going to give it to the end of the week to see if someone decided she was a big enough pest and fought back for once (aka a peck on the head and swelling) but she may have to have a visit to a vet sadly.

Oh now that is miserable
Have you considered a cheap door alarm? The noise they make can cause them not to hang around. Or perhaps a door cam and a sign saying it’s covered by CCTV.
Not that any of that helps right now. Sorry to hear it, it always feels worse than just the stuff that’s gone missing, it’s the intrusion into your space that makes it most uncomfortable.
