That really stinks that they left no fingerprints. But how do you know it was Maori? I have heard that often when someone gets broken into, it was someone they knew or someone who had been to their house for some reason (service repairs, deliveries, etc.) and knew that the homeowner had something valuable to take and also knew that they wouldn't be home at the time of the break-in.
My DH owned a security alarm system company for a number of years. We had some friends who after getting their house broken into (and were on a tight budget so couldn't afford a security system and the monitoring fees) asked DH if they could have some signs to put up in their yard. He gave them some signs and they put one in the front and one in the back. That was 2 decades ago and the thieves never returned, or if they did, they saw the signs and left.
It sucks that you have that big of a deductible.
Because a park backs onto my section I noticed some tree guys up a snorkel trimming trees
I drove over there and they ssid 2 maoris were seen hanging around my back fence. He said it looked suspicious .
