02/27/2126?Car shopping…god, just take me now, please!
A math(s) word problem for you: assume time spent shopping for an item is directly proportional to its price. If it takes MrsT four hours to choose an OTC bottle of $6 cough syrup, two weeks to choose a $100 pair of shoes…how long will it take her to choose a $28,000 (approx) car?
This was an actual conversation this morning:02/27/2126?
We have hills up here in NE Ohio...or drive east to near WV foothills for a test drive. Heck, there's hills (mountains) in Kentucky too, right? This was an actual conversation this morning:
Hey, what’s the interstate like if we were driving from Hanover to Philly?
I have no idea, the last time we drove that was…12 years ago. Why?
Well, this review says the Kia has some body roll on curvy backroads, and can be a little sluggish on interstates that are hilly.
Ok…we live in Ohio…
Yeah, but we’re going to have this car for a long time, and we’re planning on moving to Hanover in the next 3-5 years, so we have to consider it.
You’re really reachi—
No, we have to consider it, like it’s all backroads right around where our house might be, but we’ll probably head into Philly for different things…how often do you think we’ll go to Philly?
How often do I think we’ll go to Philly 3-5 years from now…if we move to Hanover…and have a house in the countryside outside Hanover…
That’s a good point, because we might buy a house in Hanover! That would be more in-town driving as opposed to rural driving…let me look that up.
Seriously, you’re going to base a car purchase in 2025 on where we might live in 2028? What if we don’t move?
You’re right - I’m going to make a list of pros and cons for if we stay in Ohio, and one for if we move to Pennsylvania, then go from there. I better look up car registration fees and insurance costs in Pennsylvania…

Sorry TR that just makes me want to know if she’s available for work in the UK?This was an actual conversation this morning:

Gonna' take a bit. Factor the time in for your later post...Car shopping…god, just take me now, please!

A Seltos, but it’s already been eliminated. She gets carsick when she’s a passenger, and that model, for better or worse, rides like a Buick…very soft and squishy and not just extreme body roll, but whatever the up and down version of that is…sort of like cresting waves on the ocean. What kind of Kia is she looking at?
Jasmine rice is divine. I stick to Basmati because I've got a contact in the Indian embassy and she provides me with the most amazing stuff. Jasmine is more "perfumed", perhaps. Either will do.
I like both. I don't see jasmine as often in the stores where I shop, it's always at the Asian market though, so when I go (2x a year) I buy it.Many thanks. I value your opinion.
My daughter also uses basmati.

I drove a 2023 Jeep Rubicon at work last week and it was the exact opposite. I'm sure that thing could climb walls if you could stick it to it but you also felt *everything* you rolled over. Not a bad thing in treacherous roading; it was way cool for a 4x4. Not very utilitarian but you could get lost driving that bad box AND make a road out!A Seltos, but it’s already been eliminated. After the 20 minute test drive, she spent another 30 minutes sitting in the bathroom, waiting to puke. I think the dealer figured out pretty quickly that was a lost sale.
