Plans for today (2025)

Work, as usual, running into town for meds and groceries, and that’s about it. On call this week, and I got called at midnight and had to work for about 45 minutes (and by “work,” I mean I had to sit there and watch a long-running overnight processing job run to completion - no real error, just that it was running longer than usual due to it being end of the month, so it paged me out to tell me, “Excuse me, I’m doing just fine but running longer than usual, which is totally expected as it’s end-of-month processing, but I’m set up to wake you up anyway just to tell you that and now you need to sit here and just watch me run until I finish, you are welcome!”

Couldn’t get back to sleep, then a weather alert came through at 4:30AM, buzzing my phone…then another page out for work at 6:30AM, and here I am, griping about it all on a cooking forum.

I am not in a good mood.

Waking up to find sore throat pain is gone with a little remaining sinus congestion. Feeling pretty good.

Going to nap a bit maybe, then have a 2pm appointment to have that drain plug issue in my car addressed. I may go do some work afterwards, it just depends on how long it takes them to complete the repair.

Just found out that Midas needs to write an estimate for the claims but can't do so until they have the vehicle. I talked to the very nice claims guy and explained I need transportation in the meantime until the repair is complete. He set up a rental car service to meet me at the mechanic''s that I can use until the repair is finished. I'm rather pleased.

So long as it's defo not your fault or defo covered by claims, them taking a car is dandy.

A man dinked my car about 7 years ago. That tinsy winsy dot of a mark was apparently a £70000 claim, cos of the car hire and then my insurances refusal to pay.

We have car mechanics in the yard. It was a £90 max dent.

That followed me for 7effin years!

Looks like the freezer has gone on the blink, and since today is a national holiday, I doubt I'll get hold of the technician to come and take a look.Plan B - buy 3 bags of ice...
Bought 3 bags of ice, so at least the beer is cold.
Fridge is not defrosting too much, since I've kept the door shut.
Technician is coming tomorrow, so the weekend is looking good. :D

I dont miss end of month stuff. Invoices and statements. I used to start the day before I hated it that much.
