Plans for today (2025)

Make my weekly Walmart/Ollie's run. Yesterday ATT telephone pole truck turned around in the driveway and busted a huge piece off by the bridge. I've got all the pics now trying to get an email. They're like talking to a wall. I've no respect for them...
So after 30 minutes on the phone with someone that had an accent I couldn't understand well I was texted a link. Now I will *never* respect them and take every opportunity to be the one that ruins their day in the name of their greed. This is the link they sent to file a grievance for property damage.

Now I've got to fix this. Per my new hip replacement I'm advised to not lift more than 35 lbs. and the smallest sack of concrete weighs 60. Concrete, when cured, weighs around 143 lb./ft.^3 That's about a 200 lb. piece there. Butthead ATT. 🤬

I'm in town, waiting for my car to be serviced.
I wasn't planning on doing that yet, but yesterday she didn't want to start
Succeeded eventually by cranking while someone banged the starter motor.
Then drove to the garage to get it checked and reconditioned.
While waiting, I thought they may as well do a full service so I don't have to come into town esp for a service.
Starter motor is pretty essential as the car is an automatic.

Anyway, stuck now till it's all done
Could have been worse, could have been in the middle of the bush.
So getting a spare starter motor as well, just in case.

Just got back from my primary care doc. Still borderline diabetic, though I’ve apparently lost 11 lbs since January (why do I feel fatter than ever?!), and in a huge change of the usual, I got some vaccines there.

Docs around here stopped giving any kind of routine shots 15 or more years ago, as soon as all the pharmacies began offering that, but today, I asked about a couple I wasn’t sure I needed, and she said, “Yep, wouldn’t hurt…hang tight when we’re done and I’ll send the nurse in.”

Now I’ve got two sore arms.

Got through taking all the old stuff off (family photos, magnets, etc.) the refrigerator earlier. When DH gets back from his appointment we will pull the fridge out and vacuum mop there. New fridge comes sometime tomorrow. They're supposed to give is a narrower window today than the original "sometime between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m." lol.

I had the cleaner and the gardener here today, so apart from a quick trip to the supermarket, nothing much.
I was intending to see my friend about our Indian food book, but it tiddled down with rain an hour ago, and it looks very much as if it's going to tiddle down again - so I'm staying put!

So before I went ahead and made the purchase on this new fridge several weeks ago, I told my husband that the refrigerator was 35.75 inches wide and 37 inches deep, and asked if it was going to fit through the doorway. He assured me that the doorways were standard 36" and it would be tight but it would work. I should have just measured it myself (or just guessed that I needed to get a slightly smaller one), but since he was the one who designed the addition and assisted in the build, I assumed he knew this for certain. So I just asked him again to be sure since delivery is tomorrow, and he got out the measuring tape. Both the door coming in the house from the garage and the front door are 35" wide so he is now trying to get the doorframe off the garage entry to create the extra inch of space we need. And it's going to be very tight indeed. Geezus.

O

Oops...

Been through similar things like that, where yes, the door is 36”…plus the storm door that only opens so wide…or the ornate designer handle on the appliance isn’t included in the measurements, so off comes the door or some piece off the appliance.

You’ll get it in there, it’ll just be a huge PITA. You’ll be happy once it’s in there, though.

He couldn't get the doorframe off and he cracked it, so now we need a new doorframe because the one that won't got off is badly cracked. Losing my mind. But I am being calm because he already had a bad day dealing with a lawyer and an accountant regarding his mother's estate and he is in a mood.

We had already figured that we would have to take the door off and that's not hard. He's on the phone with Best Buy right now. I might be having to cancel this order and place an order for a 29 cu ft one instead of the 31 cu ft we purchased.

I hope not. Just stay out of the way, he’ll figure it out. You can get anything into anywhere if you try hard enough, plus if you get the smaller fridge, he’ll have busted that door frame for nothing.

Get his family over there, they’ll figure it out.

Okay, so I looked at the "badly cracked frame" and it's not badly cracked, but if he takes it off it's going to break. It's just a garage entry door to the house I don't care if it has a crack in it. I am going to tell him just to cancel the order and I will look for a slightly smaller one that will still be larger than what we have, but we may not be getting a new fridge tomorrow afterall. I should have learned by now to just double check things myself.
