Plans for today (2025)

It's mostly a scam to take your money. You pay them $100 or so, they run a background check via the sheriff's office that cost $10 and if you're clean they print you a card. 😱
Yeah, years ago I would get emails from a few MSCs where they would offer to fly me in (and home) and pay for my hotel and meals, but a lot of those shops involve multiple table games and I am not much of a roulette player or blackjack player. I can play Texas Hold 'em but I prefer to play with friends and not on a casino level. All-in-all there are lots of timings, food and drink outlets, descriptions, etc. These shops require a great deal of detail and focus and I think for someone who really loves to gamble, they are fine, but since you only get to keep a certain amount of any winnings, I think they don't pay enough. Also, there are quite a few beverage interactions and since I hate wasting alcohol (the wise thing to do would be to pour out most of those drinks after the first sip), so I would be schnockered in no time and I might make a mess of the whole thing!

Todays plan was to try sort out what fishing tackle & stuff to take for my holiday trip.
Rods & reels was easy, but spinners & lures...

Taking my fly fishing rod as well, just don't know if I still know how to use it :)
Flies are small, so they are packed

I used to give blood but gave up when they used the new lady on my veins.
2 heavily bruised arms later.

Yeah, some people definitely have better technique than others. I was a bit worried today, the lady had pretty long nails, but she did a good job overall.

My area has a constant shortage of blood and blood products, so I donate as often as I can (every 3 months).

I did too but I wasn't going about my business in a short sleeve shirt with track marks up my arms 🙃

Last full day here in glorious Pennsylvania - breakfast, third attempt at a (big soft) pretzel, MrsT wants to contemplate things for a bit on the battlefield here (Gettysburg), up to a fruit stand for a melon and some more peaches, and we already know where we’re eating tonight - same place we’ve had breakfast the last two days. MrsT ordered four peach dumplings to take home, and we’ve got to pick those up.

I had to call out my partner-in-crime for the recipe book, because she's not moving. Poor soul; two young boys, a fractious realtionship with the husband, no catering gigs going ( with a 15 strong payroll) and now, her mum in hospital.
Anyway, the Ambassador's wife is not back in the country until mid-September, so that released a bit of pressure. I'm going to look at all the recipes, add a bit of blurb at the beginning (history, anecdotes, ingredients, etc.) and that gives me something to do.
Then I made some samosas and some chicken kebabs for my buddy who wants an Indian Street Food event. I was just about to take them when the heaven's opened, so later on, maybe.

Doing some organizing and discarding, moving some furniture in my office around. I ran across some old photos of me as a kid, teens, 20s, and pics of my mom and dad. Quite nostalgic. I have been planning on going through this stuff for quite some time but knew it would be a little sad so I had been putting it off. Didn't really intend on starting it today but I did.
