Plans for today (2025)

We used lip channel, cut lengthwise to hold the panels
Then one side 70 cm higher than the other to get to the more or less correct angle for our location.
Panels are facing North.
I'll try take some close up pictures tomorrow. We just work with the steel I still got lying around.
The panels were about 230 x 115 cm each

If you go here you can find out when solar noon is for your location and tilt your panels to the smallest shadow that should be pdc, pretty darn close.
 
Today:
DH's pedicure
Some laundry
Make some Spam® Musubi for lunch
Collect up the foods that I want to take over to the local Food Bank & deliver them
Sort out supper
and maybe put fresh sheets on the bed
 
Taking MrsT down to this today:

Christkindlmarkt - Germania Society of Cincinnati

I’ll drop her off and she’ll meet up with my hairy nephew and his lovely wife for a little shopping and gluhweining (yes, that’s a word where we live!).

I can’t go because that’s the place where years ago, while we were still members, I lost my shit big-time and cussed out all the senior board members for gross mismanagement and unparalleled incompetence in an epic tirade that…resulted in no change to the club whatsoever. :laugh:

So…while they’re inside doing that, I plan on running to a nearby cooks’ shop, getting some knives sharpened, and having a beer at the pub next door. Win-win!

It was terrible, and if I’m being honest, I don’t remember all the details (as so often happens), but it was a last-straw sort of thing, after some shady activity and then some completely stupid behavior.

In retrospect, I’m sure it probably looked hilarious from the outside, because I was screaming my fool head off at the board president, the vice, and the grounds & buildings head, they were sniping at me, MrsT was just standing there looking sheepish, and there was the membership head trying to get everyone to cool down, in a sort of “Can’t we all just get along?!” moment.

The shady behavior I definitely remember. Some members of the club were pushing for permanent modern restroom facilities to be built on the grounds, for events (the park, at that time, ran three major events a year).

The estimate was for a little over $1M for the project, and every month, membership would vote on it and vote it down. One month, though, we were alarmed that the contracts had been signed and the project was moving forward.

What happened was a few members on the grounds & buildings subcommittee went rogue and signed the contracts anyway, then said, “Tough shit. You try and back out and we’ll get sued by the construction company.”

There was talk of going to the courts to have the contracts declared void since prescribed procedure had not been followed, but in the end, the board decided that would be bad publicity for the club and let it slide with a “stern warning.”

The people I yelled at were all involved in that mess, but that was the first of a lot of crap and incompetence from them that I didn’t like.

And as far as plans today…MrsT is at the market, eating raclette and drinking gluhwein, and I’m at a British-style pub, having a sausage roll and a beer while waiting on my knives to be sharpened next door.
