Plans for today (2026)

Plans:
  • Back to bed until life warms up a touch (see weather thread for 8°C summer heatwave start)
  • Shower
  • Prepare for work integrated learning job interview
  • Email my mum how to check the from field to see that something is spam... (don't ask, she's no memory anyhow)
  • Make tea
  • Study
It went well. I'll know for definite on Thursday but they can't see any obvious reason why I won't get one of the 2 spots. They just have to interview the other 2 students first. They contacted me first and gave me first pick of the time slots as it was.

Congrats!

Off to see my primary doc…this is just to keep my maintenance meds (HBP & high cholesterol) renewed for another year.

Nothing major today, maybe some more grafting of citrus trees.
Trim some of climbing roses, only remove old twigs.

Oops I forgot a few things to do today, call the dentist for my husband’s crown, call my annuity provider for tax form.

Finally husband got a hold of the receptionist, after she said she would call back in 2 minutes, she didn’t, so I urged hime to call again. He’s now booked for an afternoon appointment.
In the meantime, I was able to graft a special variety pomelo to my Oro Blanco, young citrus leaves are leafing out. It’s very good time to graft.

I was 2 hours late for work this morning.

I headed out and hopped on the train as usual to head into the city. Train was about 10 min behind schedule, but no biggie. We’d almost reached the main transit hub in the city (where the trip ends, and pretty much everyone gets off), and we come to a halt. This isn’t a big deal, sometimes you’re waiting for a signal or something. The customer service guy comes on and says we’re waiting for a signal.

10 minutes later, he comes on again and says there is an emergency at the station that needs to be dealt with. So we sat. And sat. And sat. For over an hour.

The customer service guy comes on again and tells us that we aren’t going to get into the station at all now, so we had to back up and go to a different station so everyone could get off the train. It took a good 15 minutes to get off the train, into the station, through the station and out (a full train like this can hold close to 2000 people with every seat occupied).

So I planned to hop on the subway. Everyone heads towards the subway platform, only to learn that the subway was bypassing that station due to a police investigation!

So I decided to walk to a different station, and finally got on the subway there. Rode to where I needed to transfer to a different subway line, only to discover that that subway train was holding due to a power issue!

At this point I randomly ran into a coworker, so we walked the last 20 minutes from there to the office together. What a fiasco.

Stick a fork in me - I’m done!
