Plans for today (2026)

Grocery shopping today, I think on me own for the first time since surgery. I’m still under a no lifting anything heavier than a gallon of milk restriction, so MrsT’s favored packs of bottled water will have to wait.

She’s also doing poorly, BTW. She has a herniated (or bulging) disk, and she’s having sciatica problems, and she pulled some muscles in her back. She’s on a round of prednisone and muscle relaxers right now, so neither one of us can lift anything heavier than our spirits, I suppose.
Ouch. I feel for both of you knowing what spinal issues are like. I'm also on prednisone and have been since Christmas due to the extreme heat and pollution in the atmosphere. This time of year always does my asthma in.

How you both feel better soon. Just do what you can. I often get people to put things into my vehicle and it stays in there until my OH removes it when I get home. It means I can still buy what's needed and I don't have to lift it.

I was put on prednisone for about a week when I had an infected tooth. I felt like Superman for the whole time - slept straight through, had tons of energy, my memory came back, no sore muscles, nothing. I felt like I was about 10 years old again.

I swear, even my eyesight got better.
I wish it had that affect on me. It used to when I was much younger, but nowadays I can't even tell when I have 50mg of it!

Carrot cake making is back on, my husband washed the shredder by hand because he forgot to put it in the dishwasher.
I said no cake for you if it’s not washed, that seems to motivate him.
Now on to shredding, and soaking raisins in rum.

2 cake tins in the oven, the recipe is from Preppy kitchen except I didn’t want or have vegetable oil so I substitute. His suggestion is to bake in two tins, do that’s what I did. Everything was mixed by hand. The guy used a whisk, I used something similar.
Waiting until the cake is done before I do the cream cheese frosting.
Next time I just make a loaf and be done with it. I don’t like recipes that are complicated.

Cakes are done, but only one was taken out. The other one is left in the oven, but the oven is off. Low sugar cream cheese frosting is done, only one cup of powdered sugar. My husband and I did taste it. We thought it was sweet enough.
Waiting to see if my daughter will like it or not. She and my husband are out for a walk.
When this is done, the lasagna is going to the oven for baking.

The girls did come back and said the frosting needs a bit more sugar, so I added a large spoon and remixed the frosting, but this is it. I discovered my decoration kit. Maybe I will have fun with it.
Anyway, cake and frosting is in the fridge cooling down.

The cake is done, honestly, I didn’t think I was making it for decoration, I thought I bake a loaf that is good enough for me. I ended up with a cake. The frosting is not thick, a bit runny, but very tasty.

I hope it tastes better than it looks. I now can go for a walk, resume my routine before my trip.
