Plans for today (2026)

Car seems to be ok now I've replenished the oil and filled it up with petrol.
At 6pm, I've got an event with the re-launch of my chutneys, an event organised by Wine Tasting Friends. (WTF).
That's just got to be tongue in cheek!
Anyway; loads of wine, loads of new contacts and, hopefully, loads of sales.

The event was fun - loads of wine and loads of contacts (including lots of old acquaintances) but very few sales.
Anyway, multiple radio interviews in the future, apparently.
I got back home at midnight, so today I will not be planning anything. Nothing. Zilch. Just hang about and recover!

I'm almost wrapped up with work for the week, then Mrs. GH and I need to run over to one of our rentals to install new smoke detectors. Then we have some errands to run and plan to stop at a butcher shop. My kid is coming home from college for the weekend, so I need to figure out something nice to make for dinner tonight Once we get home, I'm going shooting at the range again. I also have some projects I need to work on around the house tonight. So, nothing major. I'm planning to get out hiking this weekend in the PA big woods.

My out-of-state brother is in the area for a visit, so I’m headed over that way to meet him (and my other brothers) for…I don’t know what to call it.

I have one brother who’s retired but insists on keeping his working life schedule - he’s up at 3:30AM and so he eats breakfast around 4:30AM and lunch around 8:30AM and supper around 2PM and then goes to bed around 8PM, and anytime we get together, we suggest typical times/places to eat, a place where we can sit down…there’s a bar…full menu…or a diner for breakfast, but he always complains about the time (“I’m not eatin’ brackfess at nine…Ah jus’ ate lunch!”), so everyone defers to him, and he picks the most off times and places, and then we’re stuck.

That means we’re meeting at a frigging fast-food restaurant that doesn’t have breakfast items at 10:30AM. That makes no sense - it doesn’t even fit his schedule! A fast-food place also isn’t really conducive to sitting around bullshitting for a couple of hours, either.

What’s more, since I live 75 minutes east of everyone else, I have the longest drive to get there, so I always suggest a place that’s more like 2/3rds of the way over, figuring that’s more than fair, and he always picks somewhere that’s even further west than they are and then gets pizzy when I push back. He’s willing to drive 20 minutes west of his house (making my drive 95 minutes each way), but gripes about having to drive 20 minutes east, so I can get my drive under an hour.

I've had

Recipe - All Belly Porchetta, skinless

except a 5 pounder, curing for almost 2 days. Craig is setting up the rotisserie now, so I just have to get potatoes parcooked and ready to go in the drip pan later, and some grape tomatoes ready to roast in the oven.

And watch some cooking shows.
