I made a rainbow cake! First time making a double story cake...definitely won't use icing on top next time ha ha. Or put sugar in the whipped cream lol

First I made cake mix and then separated the mix into separate bowls and coloured them. I did this with two cakes.

Here's one of them cooked.

Here's two of them with jam and whipped cream between them!

Here's a piece of it, with the colours showing. They were really bright, it was awesome! It tasted great too but there was a bit of a buzz because I didn't think about the sugar in the jam with the sugar in the whipped cream....and the icing sugar which I won't do again lol.

It was awesome! :D

Another way of making this is that you can do the layers separately and then put it together at the end. It'll take more work and more time, but it'll look pretty cool too since you can cut up the layers however you want and put it back in the shape of a cake :)

Very impressive! It looks fun and yummy. I think a rainbow cake is a great idea as a birthday cake for a children's party. I am really afraid of pouring different batters on top of each other. I'm afraid it will get mixed up and become muck. But, I like the idea of baking each batter separately and using icing or filling in between. I have to give a lot of credit to anyone who actually bakes it as one cake.

I don't think I could do that, they kind of rise in the middle and it would be a nightmare. I've seen it done before but I don't think I can do it.

Me too!! I was afraid they would run into each other and it was really terrifying trying this but they never did!! As long as you mix well you can take your time pouring and even leave it on the counter for a couple of minutes. Just try not to tip it when you put it in the oven cause all the circles move lol. They keep their shape and colour so you could even do spots if you wanted (I sort of wanted to).

It was super easy, far easier than I thought it would be.
