Rank your carbs

Mine would be:

Potatoes
Bread
Pasta
Whatever other things are carbs
Rice

Potatoes and bread are close enough to be a tie, but I ranked them anyway.

Rice could be eliminated altogether and I wouldn’t really miss it. 🫥

I'm intrigued by that emoji.

I reckon rice is more interesting than pasta. There are different types of grain with different tastes and different ways to cook it - plus, it can be sweet or savoury.

1. I'm a "meat and potatoes" kind of guy, so potatoes win by a mile.
2 & 3. Bread and pasta both trail distantly. My preference depends entirely on what we're having.

I make rice on occasion just to mix things up, but like TastyReuben, outside of sushi or pork fried rice with some Asian foods, I could take or leave it. Ironically enough, I have a ton of it sealed in mylar bags with oxygen absorbers in my prepper pantry since it is so cheap.

That's actually a really tough question.Venezuela is the 3rd largest pasta consumer in the world, and yet rice is a staple. Not to mention bread - people will buy a whole "canilla" (which is a short baguette) and just put a slab of cheese in it.
I think I'd have to go with pasta first. It's quick to make, I've always got some form of pasta sauce in the fridge, and if not, it'll be an aglio e olio, or a traditional Alfredo (butter and parmesan cheese)
Rice is second. Classic accompaniment to Venezuelan food and essential for Indian food.
Then come bread. A cheese sandwich is my favourite, and probably most common breakfast - at around 10.30 am
Love potatoes, but they need lots of time to cook, so they'll come in 4th.
Finally, lentils, beans, grains.

1. Potatoes. They are so versatile, but I also often crave them. I even like them plain with some salted butter if they are new baby potatoes. They're sweet and delicious.
2. Rice. There's a rice for every occasion . Love Rice flour too, dishes like bapao would not exist without it.
3. Bread, I don't go a day without it. It also helps mop up leftover sauce which is a great bonus. And who can live without pizza or croissants?
4. Pasta. I like pasta too, it would just be the easiest carb for me to lose. It doesn't have the wow factor often, for me. But my husband loves it so it's on the menu often enough. I guess this is why I prefer baked pastas.

I don't think I can.

We love bread. Whilst cycling on for RTW, we used to eat an entire loaf a day of decent bread, sometimes 3 loaves in 2 days. Still love a decent loaf of bread.

I love rice. Brown rice with flavour that is. Not the white stuff.

Potatoes, yep, love them as well. Great to grow, so often top my list. Like to grow the more colourful varieties.

Indifferent to pasta. Can eat it or not.

What an interesting question. In this household we have a difference of opinion:
Me
  1. Pasta/Noodles as they are great flavour carrier. Plus it can be filled, layered and shaped
  2. Potatoes. With a British background they can't be far away and can be cooked in numerous ways
  3. Rice. Normally a simple accompaniment
  4. Bread. I love a sandwich, but wouldn't go for it with a main meal
Wife
  1. Bread. She's a 'breadaholic'
  2. Pasta. As above
  3. Potatoes. As above
  4. Rice. As above
