Anyone have a good or fave T&T recipe for the above with or without balsamic vinegar?

I’ll be honest I always buy this one.

I find it such a useful ingredient. A spoonful of it in a gravy or stew works wonders. It’s also my secret ā€œHmm this isn’t quite good enoughā€ fixer upper ingredient.
It’s also good as a chutney with cheese. They seem to have hit the spot with this one.

Your reply on the toasted cheese thead is what prompted me to ask! I've made it a few times but never been super happy with the results. No Morrisons where I am

Is there a list of ingredients on it that might give a clue?

Ah well all the supermarkets do a version of caramelised red onion chutney. I can’t vouch for how good they are but I bet they’d do a great cheese on toast.

Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys, Waitrose, Ocado, M&S, Aldi all sell one.
What supermarket do you have near you?

Making your own sounds worthwhile though šŸ‘

The Morrisons one looks a bit complicated to replicate. I’d say the balsamic vinegar does make a big difference to the overall flavour.

It does. And quite industrially produced I'd say - also has apple in it, which is interesting

I’m not sure I get what you men by industrially produced but I don’t have an issue with any of those ingredients.
Ascorbic acid is vitamin c and calcium chloride is calcium salt which is used in lots of application including medicine to treat low calcium levels šŸ‘
You wouldn’t bother with either of those though if you were making it yourself. Maybe citric acid instead of ascorbic.

Mind you when I bought grape must after hearing what a wonderful ingredient it was I wasn’t impressed.
Maybe onion chutney would be a good way to use it up?!

Just a reference to industrially produced, often ultra-processed foods (UPFs) (even apart from nutritional aspects) meaning ingredients and/or processes not always available or possible to obtain at home. But based on common recipes and variants, you can have a good idea of working out what's in it in terms of home cooking
