I was browsing around at our local restaurant distributor, which also happens to be open to the public too. In addition to food and other supplies, they also sell a whole line of restaurant grade pots, pans, baking sheets and such.
I've often considered scraping my existing pots and pans (mostly Calphalon and T-Fal stuff), and replacing all of them with these instead. If they are durable enough and reasonably priced for restaurant use, they should be perfect for home use as well.
I often feel like I am just paying for brand and department store markups when I shop at the chain stores, whereas at these distributors it looks like I would be getting more quality for my buck.
Has anyone tried these?
The pans looked kind of interesting, since they were very thick but also lightweight - I'm guessing they might be aluminum.
