I have recently starting making the most delicious sugar cookies and enjoy finding fun, unique ways of decorating them. My go-to icing is royal icing because I can easily color it to my needs, and it makes the cookies look so neat and well-made. I have never tried storing already-made icing though. I'm not sure if this is even possible. Has anyone ever made a huge batch of royal icing and stored it for any period of time? What is the trick to doing this?

I think you can only keep it 5-7 days. And it will seperate, so you will have to mix it togerher, and don't add colour until you use it otherwise the colour will fade

5-7 days sounds about right. I know with regular frostings, you should toss them after 14 days if the go unused. I keep my frostings in the fridge until I am ready to use them, but I am not sure if royal icing would be the same. You can try pulling it out about an hour before you are ready to use it.
