Has anyone here tried Russian Dressing? I went through a phase where I couldn't sit it down after discovering it. It almost like a ketchup/bbq mix with something added in that I can't identify.

It's also referred to as Thousand Island Dressing, I believe. It's basically just ketchup, mayo and sweet pickle relish all mixed together - but you can use diced pickles in a pinch. I noticed some other recipes that call for a mix of mayo, cocktail sauce, horseradish and onion - which also sounds really good too. Perhaps that is a more "authentic" version of it?

I often mix mayo and horseradish and just use that as a dip for stuff like fried mushrooms or fried zucchini.

I have a Russian dressing recipe that goes like this:

Russian Dressing
Ingredients:
2/3 cup oil
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup sugar
3 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons vinegar
2 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon onions, grated
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon paprika

Instructions:
- Cover, shake and adjust to taste.
- Chill and shake before serving.
This recipe can be varied by replacing some of the ketchup with chili sauce.
