School experiences of learning to cook (and other things)

I don't know what forms mean?

I was in primary school (5 to 12) then high school.
First is third form at 12 or 13.
Fifth form is school cert. You need 3 passes to enter university. You can stay sixth form and seventh form.
They have since I went added middle or intermediate school ages 11 and 12.yo.
I find your system confusing .
Our system is modelled on the Brits.

It's pretty simple. Kindergarten is about 5 years old. Grades are 1-12 (about 6 years old to 18) and then after that is university for those who choose to go. When I was young 1-6 was elementary, jr. high school was 7-9, and high school was 10-12. Nowadays they have 1-4 is elementary, 5-6 is middle school, 7-8 is jr. high, and high school is 9-12. Of course that can vary by state and other factors. I am sure there are some more rural areas where kids go to the same school throughout 1-12.

I find your system confusing, LOL!

Here you cant start a job until you turn 15. I was kicked out at 14 end of year. Started work in jan aged 14 (I lied and said I was 16). Turned 15 4 weeks into first job. I looked older than I was. I could pass for 18 to go in a bottlestore
50/50 % of the time. When i was 15.

That would have been impossible for me as I never attended the same school for more than 2 years except 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th, at which time I was 8, 9, 10, and 11 years old. That type of curriculum was not offered to my age group 8-11.
I was the same all through infants/middle school (aka primary now so upto the age of 11 years old l). never managed a full year at the same school. Secondary school was different though (11-18). The local state school was a mess big time, so I was sent to a private school (not my choice I was just told and sat the 11+ and passed) ).

Ok. I still don't understand completely. We have school years, yes, not the same as calendar years. But we have 1-12.
Secondary school, 1st form is year aged 11-12
2nd form is 12-13, so basically the 2nd year of secondary school.
5th form is exam year, GCSE at 15-16 year old.
6th form gets divided into lower 6th (1st year of A levels) 16-17 & Upper 6th 2nd year of A levels 17-18 before university.

Form tends to be used in private schools in the UK (I've only been educated in the private system at secondary school level (so 11 and over) and worked in the private system). State schools use year 1 to ? not sure there to be honest, starting with year 1 being your first year of school (aged 4-5). Year 7 would be 1st form in the private system.... I'm not certain on the labeling system for private primary level education having gone through so many schools between the age of 4 & 11 (7 i think not including not actually starting at age 4 or ever doing a full year, plus my brothet and I had a long period out of school due to measles and german measles. I carried 1 caught the other, and the opposite for him... kept us out of school for 2 terms)

I only mentioned the calendar year side of life because in Australia a school year is a calendar year and school year starts in February.

Yep, just like SatNavSaysStraightOn.
I went to Primary School when I was 5. 2 miles from home, and we always walked there and back.
Probably when I was 7, I went to Elementary school - a little bit closer to home. I was there until I was 11, which is when I sat the 11+ exam, which got me into Grammar (Secondary) School. I was at Grammar School for 7 years: 5 yrs studying a bit of everything (except Physics, which, although I studied, I never understood). When I was 14, we did our first "O" level (Ordinary) level exams and some more the following year. English, French, Maths, Chemistry, Religion, Music, Latin (obligatory for some university entrance requirements) and then "6th Form" - two years specialising in Arts or Science. I did Arts.
By the time I´d done my 3 "A" levels, I applied to university. I was 18 when I finished, but decided to stay on to see if I could get better grades. By Christmas, I´d already got a place at university so I gave up school and worked for a year before going "up" at the age of 18 1/2.
University was 3 years, unless you decided to study Medicine or Classics (Latin & Greek).
