I think you mean distressed. Actually when we were furnishing the house in Dade I saw tables like this with grain splits. We found the pioneer look rather strange.It seems to be damaged![]()

I have a kitchen diner too. Most portuguese homes have a simple (usually plastic or wood) table in the kitchen that's used for everyday meals, and a nicer dining table in the living room. My house has a living room that doubles as bedroom so my only table is in the kitchen.We have a kitchen-diner (I know some people don't like them, but I do) and the dining end is all Christmased up at the moment:

The tablecloth is just a wipe-clean one, we do have much nicer embroidered ones for special meals.
