Show us your pet (2026)

I'm home again with my own dogs (I did miss them a lot), but these are the ones I looked after
Black lab on couch, and mixed breed 1 year old in her old basket

And the naughty, stubborn one. She suffers from small dog syndrome.
She rules and she is convinced she should be the centre of the universe :)

Barriehie I'm am so very sorry for your loss.
Somehow I missed it.
Losing your furry kid is not an easy thing in life, and I feel as though a large portion of this community knows how it feels and are standing there with you, giving you comfort.

Some weeks are easier than others.

Yesterday, when we went to look the chooks up, there 3 surviving chicks were missing. (We lost 5 a few weeks ago when there fox ripped open their cage on the veranda walking me up.
that morning I had found the electric fence gate open and can only assume that they exited through there, or were taken through it. I found it open less than 30 minutes after their automatic gate opened into the usually secure area. We could not find any trace of them.

Today when I was up looking on others and checking up, I noticed 2 of my girls were not around. They were both in the coop. One still lays and the other still sits in the nest box saying this is where you all should lay today.

Tonight the eldest was still there, sitting on an egg, dead. She had a bad heart. We have known that for a good 18 months or more. She was 10½ yrs old and a wanderer at heart. She was the one that would follow me to the road and back in her earlier years and even recently would still wander far and wide. She loved walking, but was going blind and struggled in semi darkness.

RIP Lily.
