Riding dog!

I take it that there is no requirement for dog to be restrained in the US? In both Australia and the UK, they have to have a special harness that clips into a seat belt, or be in a cage in the bottom or yute/flatbed. And not allowed in the front either. So if you yute only has front seats, then it's a cage on the back or clipped onto bars on the open back of the yute.

No, there aren't. That seat she's sitting in came with a harness that attaches to the seat belt that's securing the seat. None of that weighs enough for the airbag to deploy so that's not an issue either.

No laws here on dog restraints, though I do have straps that attach the pug's harnesses to a fastened seat belt for long trips. I don't usually bother for short trips, like to the vet, which is less than 10 minutes away at 45 MPH or less, and I make them sit in the passenger seat with my fingers looped thru their harness. They go for separate visits so I only have to deal with one at the time.

There are, however, strict laws about leaving animals in unattended cars, even with windows cracked open, due to the temperatures here. You can bet somebody will call the police if they see a dog in an unattended car, and you will come back to a pricey ticket, and maybe a busted window.

Florida also has strict animal abandonment laws, especially after a dog was found tied to a fence in a ditch alongside a highway right as a hurricane was moving in. Abandoning an animal before or during a storm is a felony now, as it should be.

⬆️ Same in NV and when it's over 110°F you'll almost certainly go to jail. You might not stay but you'll be booked and have to get your animals out of "impound".

I was wondering how she and Ozzie would get on.
Do you think she's seeing him as competition? Or is she maybe protecting you from the big bad Oz?
I think she's being territorial, defining her space. She's just last night started rooting around in the dog beds and stopping to lay in them for a bit.
