Ideally we would have it, but like everything else it costs money to obtain a certificate which has to be renewed annually and the CB site does not make a profit. In fact, it runs at a loss before the purchase of an annual security certificate.
Is there a spot we can "anonymously" donate to CookingBites?

One of the other sites I belong to has a PayPal account set up and reminds people about it once a year, though you can donate at any time. Since it's thru PayPal, you don't have to worry about an SSL.
