Social media

I, for the most part, don't like social media, but I absolutely loathe TikTok; it is pure brain rot. It is literally scary how stupid our current generation is. Also, I think if most of the people who use it had actually read the ToS, they would run away screaming from it. It's nothing more than a Chinese spy tool.
The typical so called social media is all little more than brain rot and a very lazy way to do things. Whoever devised the name "SOCIAL Media" needs to learn the definitionof "Social".

As for that ToS thing being a spy tool - that's exactly what google and microsucks is as well .......

I don’t have Facebook, TikTok, X, Reddit, I must be living in the Stone age, haha.
The ONLY media I have are forums which have a particular purpose - modelling, cooking etc, not some wanna be telling everyone that they painted their toe nails .............

As for the Gen A B C D's and so forth - I'm not a letter, I'm a person and I don't need to be catergorised thanks ;)

Well the forums are social media to an extent, though on a small scale and better protected.

Yes, CookingBites is social media. There are some really good things about social media and some very dark and evil things (and consequences).

I think we will all be watching with interest the progress and outcomes of the recent legislation in Australia.

What legislation is that ? Do you have a link to it by any chance?

But isn't gen alpha only like 15 or something? I think you are completely misunderstanding me. You wrote:

That gave me the impression you were talking about your generation.
Go to YouTube and search Gen Alpha Education, and prepare to be shocked. The standards have dropped massively.

Its been all over the news here.

Australia’s world-first social media ban begins as millions of children and teens lose access to accounts

Australia has enacted a world-first ban on social media for users aged under 16, causing millions of children and teenagers to lose access to their accounts.

Facebook, Instagram, Threads, X, YouTube, Snapchat, Reddit, Kick, Twitch and TikTok are expected to have taken steps from Wednesday to remove accounts held by users under 16 years of age in Australia, and prevent those teens from registering new accounts.

I don't watch much TV, let alone the news ... but wow, that is good to see in my opinion. Only problem with that is it won't stop them (kids under 16) from using the things. The upside though, it might give responsible parents a bit more control over what their kids are doing, seeing and who they are talking to.

Obviously, the kids wont like it but I think doing something that protects (or helps protect) them is far more important.
