These are lovely - I particularly like the castles. I presume the bottom two are done with butter icing? I used to do 'face' cakes when the kids were little, and they were fairly simple to do, but l.ooked stunning. I used that technique on the face of an owl cake I made once. The body 'feathers' consisted of slivers of Cadbury's Flake. It took hours to make, but it looked stunning. If I can find the photo, I'll try to scan it in, but we're talking 30 years ago, so it might not work.

All done with sponge, icing, food colouring, and a good dash of red wine. (that last as a confidence booster)
