Here you go.medtran49 I’ve watched a few spätzle videos and I think the box version would suit me best. I see the batter consistency is important depending on what you’re using to make it so I was wondering if you have an ingredients list with ratio’s you could share?
I’ve watched few youtube ‘how to’ vids by proper German spätzle makers and they all use flour. Plain (all purpose) flour. They said you can buy spaetzle flour in Germany which is mainly plain flour with a bit of semolina in it.
The recipes I'm finding say to use flour but I know from making potato dumplings when I used flour they fell apart in the water. The only thing that worked with the dumplings was using potato starch.
I think that’s going on my menu soon, as I have some fresh sage to use up. Thanks! He's going to partially get his wish in that a browned butter, fresh sage spatzle will be a side on our next menu list.
Going on my menu too now that I've cooked the potatoes. Need to eat a hole in the fridge first...Here you go.
Recipe - Kasespaetzle
Craig mentioned the other day that it had been a long time since we had the dish in that thread. He's going to partially get his wish in that a browned butter, fresh sage spatzle will be a side on our next menu list.
Can’t wait to see the result!Sometimes I dither for far too long over whether to buy something. Pleased to report no such thing has occurred with the spaetzle maker.
£11.49 so why not?!

I saw you did on Medtrans spaetzle recipe thread. I was going to ask you how you got on, not a lot of point in that I guessI bought one and never used it.... Jamie Oliver used a colander in a programme I watched recently.

The one you bought is now £17.99!!
I’ve watched a few youtube vids and so long as the batter consistency if correct then it looks like it might be worth it.Not sure why I didn't use it. I think it looked too much like a faff. I still have it and could have posted it to you!
Barriehie - I’ll be a bit disappointed if you don’t post about buying a cheese shredder from the dollar store, cutting an old Tupperware lid down to size, then a hole in it, and fitting an empty soup can over it to hold the dough!Sometimes I dither for far too long over whether to buy something. He will but I’m sure his ingenuity will shine when it comes to his own spaetzle makingBarriehie - I’ll be a bit disappointed if you don’t post about buying a cheese shredder from the dollar store, cutting an old Tupperware lid down to size, then a hole in it, and fitting an empty soup can over it to hold the dough!![]()
