I love French cooking, I honestly want to go to a cooking school in Paris. Not sure if my husband can take a month in Paris.
Not sure anyone can take French instruction for that long 😂
No offence France, your food is amazing but tolerance of the non-french plebeians appears to be around about zero 😆

I have many many examples from multiple visits. They generally go along the lines of
“Hi would it be possible..”
“NON”
“I haven’t said wha..”
“NON”
😂

One of my Bezzie’s moved to France about 5 years ago and I met her a year or so ago in Italy. We motorcycled some of the Pyrenees together and then onto southern Spain. It was fun.
We went into a pharmacy in Spain and asked for something. She was nervous and wanted to know how much Spanish I spoke.
I said not a lot but don’t worry, the Spanish folk will always try and help you.
We wandered in, got exactly what we needed, they were really lovely and we left, she said I don’t understand, no-one said NON! 😂

So yer a French Cordon Bleu course would be wonderful.. somewhere else.

I always speak to French people in English, my French is extremely rusty. They told me to slow down a little when I speak so they can understand. In fact, I speak English everywhere and I get friendly reception even with my American accent. I thought it would be the opposite, lol.

Yep, my daughter’s best friend family sold their house in Palos Verdes and moved to Summerlin in Las Vegas.
Used to live there, Summerlin. When my 703^2/ft apartment went from $693 to $1400 it was time to leave the liberals to themselves. Illegal to rid the stupid...

I tend to get by with my very poor French, by starting of in French and apologising and asking if they maybe speak English
I think it is wrong to just assume people do.
But yes, it is easier to get by in both Spain and Portugal, even without hardly speaking a word of either language

For sure. You must absolutely start by attempting to speak French or you can forget about getting fed at all 😂
I always start wherever I am by learning to apologise for not being able to speak the language in their language. By the time I’ve butchered that sentence they’re normally laughing and agreeable.

Making an arse of yourself using school boy French is 100% the way to go.
It’s just that doesn’t navigate you around the bit where the favoured answer is still NON.
Add into that the French don’t believe anyone but the French can cook and I wouldn’t be putting my name down for a class in France.
